Google Adsense Account Approval Process(New)

This is the new process that Google follows to approve Adsense Applications (Year 2015)

Google Adsense has recently introduced a new application verification process for publishers. Google Adsense has become the industry standard when it comes to displaying contextual ads on your blog. No doubt Adsense is the best and most popular monetizing program for bloggers.  Until now Google Adsense approval process was simple and easy : you create an Adsense account, submit your application, Adsense team reviews it and accept you in the AdSense program, and then you implement ads to monetize your blog. Pretty simple? Yes, It was.

But now Google has changed the procedure to review new Adsense application. Earlier it was a one step verification process but now Google has decided to approve an AdSense account in 2 steps.

#1. Create an account>submit your application>Adsense team will review your application and partially approve your AdSense application. Adsense team will notify you about this approval.
In this step, Google Adsense teams do some initial checks on your blog and information provided in the application.

#2. Once your Adsense application passes the initial stage, Adsense team will grant you access to your Adsense account. Login to Adsense account. Go to my ads. Here you will get many options to customize the look of ad.  Customize it as per your preference, click on get code. Copy this code and paste at where you want to see it on your blog.

Please remember this is not the final approval. Once you have implement these ads code in your blog and these will be showing as blank and will blend with the background of your blog. You can place upto 3 ads on one page hence don't just bombard your blog with lots of ads. You won't be paid for any click on these ads until your Adsense account passes the second review. Now again Google Adsense team will review your blog and ads placed. The only purpose to conduct the second review is to ensure that your blog meets certain requirements to successfully run Adsense ads on your blog. If your blog meets the AdSense standard, Adsense team will approve your application. This is the final stage of approval. Now your Adsense account is approved and ads will show up on your blog. You will get a second email from AdSense team conforming the same.

Note: Until your Adsense application doesn't pass second review, you however, will be able to login to Adsense account but it will show a message saying " your account is under review."

UPDATE: Once you apply for an Adsense account, you get an instant access to your Adsense account. Adsense account sometimes doesn't show any status - "under review", So Don't panic. Just put some ads code and wait for Adsense team to review. Upon final review review you will get an approval email.

Google is becoming strict day by day and that is why they have changed the Google Adsense approval process. This new Adsense approval process takes more time to approve AdSense application as approval is split in two steps now.

New Process of AdSense approval:

Sign up for Adsense account(Google Adsense sign up page)
Provide information about you(name, address, phone#) and the blog's URL which you want to monetize.

Within 1- 2 days AdSense team will review you application. If it looks good to them, you will pass the first review. Adsense team will communicate you the same via email.

Upon first approval you will automatically get access to your AdSense account. Login to AdSense account. Click on my ads to create a new ad (I am not getting into detail here as all the steps involved to create and customize a new ad are self explanatory)

Paste the ad codes on your blog. As per Google you should not use more than 3 ads on a web page so be careful. These ads will not show up on your your blog and will blend with the blog background. Now Adsense team will initiate the second/final review. It mat take about a week. You're lucky if you get it before. After the final approval you will get a confirmation email.

After the final approval confirmation, ads you had placed on your blog will be visible. When somebody clicks on those ads, you will get paid some amount depending on advertiser. Google Adsense pays only for a valid click. Don't try to encourage people to click on your ads against their wish. As I told you before that Google is very particular and strict. If Google finds any activity in your Adsense account which is violating the TOS,  your Adsense account will be disabled immediately and banned permanently if you don't acknowledge the Google's TOS. All your earning will be forfeited. So i suggest you don't do anything which is against Google's policies.

Once your AdSense earning will reach $10,  Adsense team will mail you a PIN to your address provided by you at the time of applying for AdSense.

You need to enter the PIN in your Adsense account to complete the last step. Google sends you a PIN to make sure that you are the real identity. Congratulation you have complete all the steps. Once your Adsense earning reaches $100, Google will send you check or wire you your earning. Most of time, it takes hell lot of time for a check to reach you (depending upon geographical location), I recommend you to enable direct bank transfer for your Adsense earning.

It is advised not to use ads below the fold as ads above the fold perform far better than ads below the fold.

You can also blend the Adsense ads with your blog design. Also using responsive Adsense ads work great.

Link based ads are different from content/display ads and works great when optimized well. Link ads don't decrease the CTR of the main ads (if optimized well). As I already stated that you should always choose a responsive theme for your blog but also keep Google Adsense heat map so that you can design your blog to have it optimized for Google Adsense.

Google Adsense is a very popular contextual advertising program for your blog to make money online. Revenue in Adsense is generated either per click or per impression basis. In this post, I'll be talking about CPC, CPM, CTR and RPM. These are the terms which will help you to better understand how Google Adsense pays.There are many publishers who make money online from Google Adsense. We know that Google Adsense is the best advertising programs for a blog. Google's Adsense earning is based on CPC and CPM. Every valid click gets you paid some money.

Before we move on, we need to know about the following basic terms:

Clicks : The number of times an ad was clicked.
Impression. The number of times a particular item was seen on a web page. Impressions can be further classified into page view, page impressions and ad impression.

Page view : page view is when a user views a web page displaying Google ads. If the user has viewed a page twice, no matter how many Adsense ads will be there, two page views will be counted.

Page view and page impressions are identical.

Ad impression : Ad impression is when an individual ad is displayed on a web page. Let say your web page has 3 Adsense units and this page has viewed by a user 2 times. Your page view will be 2 and ads impressions will be 6 (3*2).

Now let's get on to CPC, CPM, CTR and RPM

Cost-Per-Click (CPC)

CPC is the amount you earn when your Adsense ads get a click. CPC is the amount that Google pays to publishers for every valid click. The CPC for any ad is determined by advertisers. CPC is keywords specific and that is the reason why keywords are important. Different keywords have different CPC. To find out the high CPC keywords, Google
Adwords tool can be used. It is a free tool that Google provides and does the job nicely.

Cost-Per-Thousand (CPM)

CPM means how much you earn for 1000 ad impressions. As a publisher, you will earn money each time a CPM ad is served on your blog.

ClickThrough Rate (CTR)

CTR is the number of ad clicks divided by the number of impressions, page view or any query that you received. CTR determines how often your ads get clicked.

CTR = (number of clicks/no of impressions, views or queries)*100

Example:
Total number of ads clicks = 5
Number of page view = 500
Therefore CTR = (5/500)*100 = 1%

Revenues-Per-Thousand (RPM)

Earlier it was known as effective CPM (eCPM). RPM doesn't tell you the actual amount paid to publisher but represent you the estimate earning of a publisher for every 1000 impressions received.

RPM = (Estimated earning/page impressions)*1000

Adsense for content ad units

You can use maximum three Adsense content ads on a single web page. This is the most common and widely used ad unit because it uses images to display advertisements. This type of Adsense ad is a treat to eye because they have rich visuals.

There are various size format available for Adsense display/content ad units:
728*90, 468*60, 120*600, 160*600, 250*250, 200*200, 125*125, 180*159, 120*250, 300*250, 336*280

There are lot more size available for Adsense content ad units but these are mostly used formats. Out of these I recommend 169*600, 300*350 and 336*280 as they do a pretty good job. I found them effective hence suggesting you to use these Adsense display unit format. If you don't find the right size in the recommended size you can certainly look for other size that fits you best.

Adsense Text Ads

This is almost like display ads but instead of image it uses text to display ads. Adsense text ads have same preference as display ads.

Some recommended size for this ads are:
728*90, 120*600, 336*280, 300*250

Adsense Link Ads

This type of Adsense ads use link in the advertising field. Many bloggers like to use Adsense link ads because once this is blend well with the layout of your blog, then this can be most effective. Place link ads above the fold to grab attention of the visitors.
You can place a maximum of 3 link ads on a single web page of your blog. It can be a top performing ad unit when placed in the top navigation bar.

You can add up to two Adsense for search ads on a single page of your blog. Adsense for search is a good way to make money online, if you have a one big blog that gets a huge traffic. Some advice from the experience

Do not exceed the number of ad units allowed on a single web page.
Keep user experience in mind.
Placing an ad above the fold can result better.
A combination of image+text ad performs better.
Placement of an ad at the bottom of the sidebar grab attention of users.

There are times when combination of different Adsense ads unit gives a better results than using a single type of ad unit. Play around with different type of Adsense ad units to find the best ads unit for your blog. You should also consider choosing different area for the ad placement to find out which area yields the best results.

So you can add:

Once your Google AdSense account is approved, you integrate it with your blog you want to monetize. Now when ads start appearing on your blog, Google Adsense starts to keep a watch on your blog. The purpose is to avoid any illegitimate activity.

Since Google is very strict about their policies hence it is important to all the bloggers to pay close attention to the policies drafted by Google for Adsense program. We all know that Google AdSense approval process is not easy and we need to do many things to keep our AdSense account safe and active. Google wants to grow.They want us to grow. These two statement are linked to each other. To have a successful partnership with Google Adsense, its important to understand the policies and terms of service.

I have listed the most commonly violated policies. Violation of any of these policy can get you banned from Google Adsense.

• Don't click on your ads

Invalid clicks is the most danger zone for bloggers not aware about AdSense policies.This is the most common AdSense violation where most of the blogs get banned. Google Adsense is a pay-per-click program. When your ads get a click you get some amount decided by the advertiser. Most of publisher who starts with Adsense, usually ask their friend to click on ads. Google will look into this and catch you. For Google these are termed as invalid click as users were encouraged to click on those ads. Google Adsense pays you for valid clicks only. So never click on your own Google ads. Your Google Adsense account can be banned. Be careful.

Similarly many new publishers encourage readers to click on the ads which is again a violation and should never be done as these clicks are considered as invalid clicks as describes in official Google Adsense page 

• Ads Placement

Your ads shouldn't interfere with the content of your blog. Ads that are well-placed and relevant are proved to deliver the best results and are liked by Google Adsense.

• Maximum AdSense ads on a single page

As per Google Adsense, maximum 3 ads can be placed in a page. Placing more than 3 ads can disable your Adsense account. You can place more than 3 ads on a single blog page is you are a premium publisher.


Link your blog with Google analytics (not a violation but its a need to know)
Google analytics is a free tool helps you to have control on your blog. It is a recommendation by Google to install it to understand and analyze your blog traffic and take appropriate action accordingly. Googly analytics tell you where are you getting traffic from and who your audience is?

• Don't alter the Adsense code

• Don't use pop up ads

As we know that Google is dedicated to improve user experience on the internet, but pop up ads  sometimes downgrade the user experience. So you should avoid implementation of pop up ads on your blog. If your blog provide good user experience you are likely to get more traffic.

• Linking to illegal content

You should not place Adsense ad code on a page which violates the Google policies. Pages with adult content, racism or hate speech shouldn't have Adsense ads running on them.

• Pornography or adult content
• Hate Speech
• Profanity
• Hacking, unauthorised softwares
• Malware or adware
• Selling of drugs, wine, beer, tobacco and smoking.
• Sale of weapons, any information about military
• Web pages that redirect users to other pages that violate the Google Adsense policies.
• Gambling content
• Distribution of coursework. Ex- Student essay

• Adsense is not allowed on unsupported language blog

At the time of writing, Google Adsense doesn't support all the language. So if you're Adsense account is approved and you are using Adsense ads on the blog with unsupported language, you should change it asap. Doesn't matter if you have installed translator plugin but this would not help and considered as a violation.

• Competitive advertisements

Make sure that you don't use any other advertising program along with Google Adsense. Let Google Adsense be your only and favorite advertising program. There are many advertising program like Infolinks, MediaNet and Adversal that you can use to monetize you blog and Google Adsense doesn't have any issue with them as they comply with Adsense TOS.

• Hosting copyright content

If your blog has copyright content like movies, games, software, songs or any other copyright material, you are more likely to be banned instantly. The reason is simple. Adsense doesn't allow sites distributing copyright content.


Note : If you have a video blog, then it is advised to write some original and unique content of atleast 400 words to describe the video.

In this step, you need to enter your contact informations. This step is very important hence do it carefully. I made few mistakes while filling it so i don't want you to make any mistake.  Under Payee name enter your name which is there in your bank account. If you make any mistake here, it can be difficult to change the payee name after sign up or even not possible at all depending  upon your geographical location including India. Google does not allow these countries to change the payee name after signing up. So make sure to use the same name as you have in your bank account because Google Adsense will be sending you checks in favour of payee name. Ensure to have your bank account name and payee name identical.

Once you have filled all the details, please verify if they are correct and up to date then click on submit my application to finish with the Adsense registration.

Now Google Adsense review team will review your blog and details which you have provided in the application. If everything goes well, you will get an approval email from the Adsense review team. But If your account is disapproved, they will provide you the reasons basis your blog is not able to get into Adsense. Work on those things to improve your blog and they re-apply for Adsense.
